The Story
As if UK gambling operators are not facing enough restrictions already, the UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) and the Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) announced that new advertising rules will be implemented on April 2.

The guidelines will rein in on ads targeting problem gamblers and free bets.

Some of the revised standards include the restriction on ads that “create an inappropriate sense of urgency, like those including ‘Bet Now’ offers during live events.” Ads that put “undue emphasis on money-motives for gambling,” engage in “trivialization of gambling,” and give “an irresponsible perception of the risk or control” were frowned upon. The new rules are so clear and specific that operators are expected to incur violations without them knowing.
