A couple of stories from South America including a man named Zeus winning the World Series of Poker Circuit Main Event in Brazil, and a fresh appearance in Argentina from the World Poker Tour.
Andrew “Zeus” Kuster is the newest World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) gold ring winner. The Brazilian used his lightning bolts to good effect, conquering a field of 939 players on his way to a R$550,000 ($175,000) haul.
The revamped partypoker LIVE model has been one of the success stories of 2017, but when it comes to the Latin American market, Mike Sexton and the crew has decided to be a pinball machine in the penny arcades belonging to the World Series of Poker (WSOP).
The event that took place in the Bienal pavilion in Ibirapuera Park in Sao Paolo marked partypoker’s first foray into the Latin American market and judging by the numbers it has to go down as an overwhelming success.
The event gave partypoker the opportunity to roll out their new South American artillery in the shape of Bruno Gagliasso, Richard Dubini, and Joao Simao. Sam Trickett added his tremendous presence from the UK, and Kristin Bicknell flew in from Canada.
Of the five partypoker Ambassadors, it was Bicknell who lasted the longest, falling in seventh place for a R$83,000 score.

The WPT Enters Argentina
Partypoker and the WSOP Are Not Alone
partypoker and the WSOP aren’t alone in their South American adventures.
The World Poker Tour (WPT) has announced plans to host a WPT DeepStacks event in Argentina – their third appearance in South America after a highly successful time in Brazil, and a forthcoming appearance in Uruguay.
The WPT will partner with Brasil Poker Live for their first-ever excursion into the land of Lionel Messi and Salsa Dancing. The schedule is a secret for now, but there will be a $1,500 WPT DeepStacks Main Event. The event takes place at the Casino Iguazú March 14-19, 2018.
WPT Brazil attracted 3,386 players with Raphael Francisquetti capturing the $247,321 first prize. WPT Uruguay takes place Nov 1-5 and will be the first televised South American event wearing the WPT branding.
The Uruguayan gambling market was recently in the news after the country’s President, Tabaré Vázquez signed the new Accountability Law, imposing strict rules on operating online casinos and poker rooms in the state as well as approving new tax laws for state-approved gambling sites.
