The Netherlands’ Kannspelautoriteit (KSA) regulatory body imposed fines amounting to €750k on Malta-based LeoVegas and its Royal Panda Ltd subsidiary for allegedly dealing with Dutch customers without permission between August 2018 and January 2019. The KSA said the two gambling brands were guilty of accepting customers from Dutch IP addresses, processing transactions using Dutch payment processor iDEAL and offering games of chance currently not permitted under the country’s laws. The incident will likely hurt LeoVegas’ chances of entering the regulated Dutch gambling market in January 2021 as erring operators are required to serve a two-year ‘cooling off’ period before becoming eligible for a license.
