Australian sports betting operator Sportsbet has further bolstered its eSports bona fides by launching a new dedicated streaming and betting site.
Last week, Sportsbet announced the debut of Respawn, an eSports portal intended to corral more of the burgeoning eSports betting market. Sportsbet already offers eSports wagers alongside its more traditional betting offers but is now taking a run at popular streaming options from the likes of YouTube and Twitch.
News of Respawn first surfaced via the Sportsbet blog, which promised eSports fans live match statistics, tournament info, betting odds and “the fastest ESL (Electronic Sports League) stream in Oceania.” The site is available for both desktop and mobile devices and is promising an HD game stream “soon.”
Users have been invited to log on to Respawn using their Sportsbet account info or create an account from scratch. After that, they can indulge in all the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, League of Legends, Dota 2, Heroes of the Storm and other eSports titles they have time to observe.
If users spot an intriguing set of odds on any particular eSports match, one click will take them to the Sportsbet site to place their wager, after which another click will return them to Respawn to watch the results play out while either celebrating or commiserating via the site’s chat feature.
Sportsbet is the down under division of Irish betting operator Paddy Power, and has therefore utilized a typically understated style to promote its new creation, calling Respawn nothing less than “the god-mode of eSports betting.” Nobody tell Russ Hamilton.
