Scientific Games, Playtika’s casino slots make Facebook’s 2015 Games of the Year

Two gambling-themed game titles made Facebook’s 2015 Games of the Year list.

In a statement, Facebook described the game as one that “features real-world franchises seen on the floors of the most popular casinos for an authentic experience.”

“We are thrilled that Hot Shot Casino Slots was selected by Facebook as one of this year’s best web games. This recognition exemplifies our deep understanding of our players and the market, and it is a validation of Scientific Games’ commitment to creating the best entertainment for players wherever they are—online-mobile or in the casino,” Barry Cottle, chief executive interactive at Scientific Games, said in a statement.

Launched on Facebook last September, Hot Shot Casino Slots includes some of the latest slots in both land-based and online casinos. Aside from its large collection of branded slots, the game also features games such as Zeus III, 88 Fortunes and Hot Shots Progressive.

Another social casino game that made the list is Playtika’sVegas Downtown Slots.

“Another solid entry in the slots genre, Vegas Downtown has been a huge hit with hardcore slots players. This cross-platform title is the latest from famed Slotomania developer Playtika,” Facebook developers said.

Playtika, based in Israel, is owned by Caesars Interactive, a subsidiary of Caesars Growth Partners, which, in turn, is a joint venture between Caesars Entertainment Corp. and Caesars Acquisition Co. On its website, Playtika described Vegas Downtown Slots as a game that “presents virtual versions of classic reel-driven Las Vegas slot machines.”

Facebook said more than 450 million people play games or connect to games on its site. The countries with the most people playing web games on the website include United States, Turkey, Brazil, France, Argentina and Germany.

Aside from the gambling-themed games, Facebook’s top 15 web games also include Best Fiends by Seriously; Knights & Brides by Vizor Interactive; Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff by TinyCo; Monster Busters: Hexa Blast by PlayDog Soft; Nords: Heroes of the North by Plarium; and Yahtzee with Buddies by Scopely.

Facebook’s 2015 game of the year was China-based ELEX’s Clash of Kings.
