Ochocinco tries out for MLS during NFL lockout

It’s no secret that NFL players are ultra talented athletes and arguably the most gifted and powerful athletes on the planet. It’s no surprise then that Cincinnati Bengals’ receiver Chad Ochocinco has decided to try his hand at another sport during the NFL Lockout. However, it is rather shocking that he chose the sport of soccer.

It’s a little surprising and it’s probably more of a publicity stunt that Ochocinco tried out for the MLS club Sporting Kansas City. Perhaps if he actually does make the team, he can lobby to have them change the name of the club to something cool, much in the same way Ochocinco did to his former sir name of Johnson. Sportsbooks might want to consider throwing up odds on Ochocinco actually making the team.

The AP reported that Ochocinco has been given a four day trial and after the trial they will review his status to see if he will continue. So it looks like he’s getting his shot. Whether Ocho can actually play soccer is another question. We know that he can river dance and we know he can disappear off the stat sheet for entire NFL seasons, screwing over fantasy teams across the continent, (BLAME CARSON PALMER) but whether he can play soccer, still remains to be seen.

For his part, he is truly a fan of the game. The AP reports that in January, Ochocinco visited Ronaldo, Kaka and the rest of Real Madrid’s squad and was introduced to manager Jose Mourinho.

Depending on how long the lockout lasts, we might see other NFL players following suit. Dallas Clark is already acting on Criminal Minds and didn’t Brandon Marshall say he was baller?
