The European Commission has announced that it will now lay its hands off legal disputes on online gambling.
What was the reason behind the decision?
In a statement, EC said that it was “not a priority for the Commission to use its infringement powers to promote an EU Single Market in the area of online gambling service.”
Several bodies were pissed with the commission's stance.
The Remote Gambling Association (RGA) and the European Gaming & Betting Association (EGBA) were dismayed, saying that EC’s decision was “highly questionable” and shows that it's not “taking its role as guardian of the treaties seriously.”
