Earlier this year when the rumours started to circulate that bwin and PartyGaming would be forming a partnership to take on the world, there was news on the subject every hour let alone every day. Not a day would go by when you wouldn’t hear about some kind of speculation. What will it be called? Who would be the CEO? Where will they be operating? What is the wife cooking for dinner? Basically anything the media could get hold of. Then there was nothing…
This may explain why bwin/PartyGaming chose today to send out a Press Release just to remind everyone that they’re still merging. Anything else? No, that’s it. The two companies confirmed that the merger is on track and will be complete come the first quarter of 2011.
The Co-CEO’s have had their say as well though. Manfred Bodner, commented: “These two companies are a perfect match. Not only shall we have the first full-house for sports betting, poker, casino and games, together we shall be Number One with respect to product portfolio, technology, development, marketing and customers.”
Norbert Teufelberger, adding: “The timing of this merger is optimal, as the industry is currently going through a phase of consolidation, and size does indeed matter.”
Although there’s still no word on the new name and whether or not Pwin is being considered – maybe that will be tomorrow’s press release.
