ASEAN Gaming Summit 2019 Day 3 highlights

The third day of the ASEAN Gaming Summit 2019 in Manila was dedicated to covering the iGaming industry’s hottest issues and topics through a series of roundtables.

The roundtables prepared for the day ran with well-curated executives from different areas of the gaming industry in a casual and free flowing conversation format. This intimate setup has led to more thorough conversation and assessment of challenges and solutions within the various sectors of the space.

Opened by keynote speaker Alfredo Lim, president and COO of PAGCOR, Day 3 ran 10 roundtables featuring licensing opportunities to online security to customer experience management.

The esports betting roundtable, hosted by Hai Ng, discussed the importance of integrity within esports operations. Stephen Hanna, chairman of eSports Integrity Coalition (ESIC), explains that ensuring integrity helps the sustainable growth of the industry. It makes investments secure, and protects the youth, which is its largest market and audience.

Moving over to the Innovation in Game Design roundtable, participants shared their thoughts on the challenges of creating games and getting them to the market.

Evan Spytma of eBET raised that understanding culture and the country’s IT infrastructure is important to customizing and localizing games. Jaydeep Chakravartty of Nektan emphasized that normal and simple games still do very well—and companies should not lose sight of that.

Software company Black Cow Technology’s Tony Plaskow said that in order for a company to achieve gaming innovation a lot of things has to happen but the key is for operators to learn to take more risks.

Seasoned Advisor John English moderated the future of Asia sports betting roundtable, where Le Tou’s Paul Fox shared their best practices in sponsorship. Pablo Bermudez of Betcris also shared his insights in the Philippines sports betting market.

English also updated the roundtable on U.S. sports betting. He also explained regulatory challenges Asia-facing operators may encounter looking into the U.S. market.
