Newly jobless Tom Waterhouse launches pricey betting tip site

tom-waterhouse-betting-tip-siteTom Waterhouse, Australian online betting’s formerly inescapable face, has launched a new tip-selling service for Aussie race bettors, particularly those with money to burn.

Last week, Australian media reported that Tom Waterhouse had stepped down from his role as CEO of William Hill Australia, which was recently acquired by rival online betting operator CrownBet, which was itself recently acquired by Canadian gaming giant The Stars Group.

Waterhouse formerly ran his own eponymous online betting outfit, until he sold out to William Hill in 2013. Waterhouse was subsequently named CEO of Hills’ expanded Australian operations, but the latest round of acquisition-a-go-go reportedly tagged him as yesterday’s man, so out he goes.

Waterhouse reportedly signed a two-year non-compete clause before collecting his severance, but the deal apparently doesn’t preclude Waterhouse selling his alleged betting expertise to the great unwashed masses of Australian bettors.

Waterhouse comes from a long line of horse trainers and bookmakers, and the revamped TomWaterhouse.com promises “four generations of betting knowledge” and features the not-at-all braggadocious claim that “Tom Waterhouse is Australian betting,” possibly because ‘the Jared Kushner of Aussie bookmakers’ didn’t test well.

Tom’s site includes the caveat that “this is not a bookmaking and wagering site,” but it does include a link to betting.tomwaterhouse.com, which contains no licensing info whatsoever, but takes you to CrownBet once you try to register.

Tom offers a variety of subscription tip packages, starting at the Bronze level, which offers one tip per week that costs you nothing, so that probably involves Tom reminding you to eat your vegetables or something.

The Silver package costs A$2.95/week and offers access to weekly tips, while the Gold package costs A$24.95/week and includes tips, Tom’s form guide and a Monthly Subscription Refund Guarantee, in which Tom won’t charge you if you have a negative return on your wagering in any given month.

For the more well-heeled bettor, there’s an Emerald package that costs A$249.95/week, which grants you access to Tom’s exclusive WhatsApp group, while the Platinum package costs A$120k/year, which allows you to “sit with [Tom] to learn how the pros work.” (Spoiler alert: they sell tips to bettors with more money than brains.)
