The Microgaming Poker Network gets ready to crown The Greatest Poker Player in the Universe when the Universal Championship of Poker kicks off in September.
Who cares about the World Championships of Online Poker (WCOOP)?
Who gives a monkeys about 888Poker’s Super XL Series?
And nobody cares that your POWERFEST is in capitals partypoker.
There is only one place to be in the month of September. There is only one festival that’s on the lips of every online poker player from Sweden to Sanya. There is only one title that the greatest poker players in the world are after.
I am waffling on about the Microgaming Poker Tour’s (MPN) Universal Championship of Poker (UCOP) and the once a year opportunity to be crowned The Greatest Poker Player in the Universe.
The second iteration of UCOP runs Sep 4-11. The gods of the MPN are putting up €500,000 in guarantees, culminating with the pride and joy of winning the €10,000 leaderboard first prize and the title that everyone is clamouring over naked buttocks to win.
The festival has the hearts of the recreational players in mind. Buy-ins range between €5.50 and €320 with most of the events pegged in the €11 range. Games include Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO), No-Limit Hold’em (NLHE), Razz, 5 Card Stud, and 5-Card Draw. The €320 Main Event begins 11 Sep and carries a €75k guarantee.
The Greatest Player in the Universe will accumulate points by winning tournaments, consistently cashing, playing multiple derivatives of poker, streaming their action live on Twitch, and sharing their experience on social media.
The winner picks up a €10,000 first prize and trophy. The runner-up receives €2,500, and third gets €1,000. There are tournament tickets for places 4-10. ‘PokahPPL’ is currently The Greatest Poker Player in the Universe after topping last season’s leaderboard in the festival’s breakout year. ‘PokahPPL’ won Event #7 while streaming live on Twitch.
Here is the full schedule.
