German pro Manig Loeser has won the partypoker World Poker Tour National Rozvadov after beating Jeffrey Brouwer in heads up action to take the €76,000 first prize.
Manig Loeser has been in this business for a very long time, but I get the feeling the starting gun has only just exploded.
The German has taken down the partypoker World Poker Tour (WPT) National Rozvadov, after beating the Dutchman Jeffrey Brouwer in heads-up action to take the €76,000 first prize. It’s Loeser’s first live tournament victory in two years.
Victory sees Loeser move further away from the long shadow created by countrymen of the ilk of Tobias Reinkemeier, Philipp Gruissem and Ole Schemion. He marches into the European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona festival with a trail of beer kegs in his wake. Just prior to his victory in the Czech Republic he also made the final table of the €4,350 NLHE Poker EM Casino Velden Main Event in Austria, finishing 6/169 for €30,400.
Loeser has now earned $1.5m in live tournament earnings. That mass includes a second and a third in World Series of Poker (WSOP) final tables, and a runner-up spot in the Grosvenor United Kingdom Poker Tour (GUKPT) Main Event back in 2011. A certain Praz Bansi leaving him hyperventilating in that one – remember him?
“I can’t thank you guys enough for the support, means so much. Party in Vienna tonight, off to Barcelona next week.” Loeser posted on Facebook.
His best EPT performance to date came in 2013 when he finished 16th in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) Main Event, the year the title went to Dimitar Danchev.
The partypoker WPT National Rozvadov was held in the very popular King’s Casino. The organizers posted a €200,000 GTD prizepool, but the 374 entrants (62 tried twice) topped that with €362,780 divided amongst 45-players.
One of those that cashed was Marco Della Tommasino. The Italian is the most prolific WPT casher in recent years with 14 coming his way in the past 24-months. Della Tommasino finished 15th, Hossein Ensan came 33rd and Vojtech Ruzicka cashed in 37th.
But it was Loeser who led the recital of fun and frivolity.
The next EPT champ?
Why not.
