The Story
Albay Representative Joey Salceda has filed House Bill 5267 which seeks to clarify what taxes should be imposed on Philippine Offshore Gambling Operators (POGO) employees. The bill will impose 15% tax of the salaries, wages, annuities, compensation, remuneration and other benefits, like honoraria and allowances from their employer and 5% tax on gross receipts. Aside from determining which taxes that POGO employees should pay, Salceda believes that codifying the tax regime will help the government oversee the industry and "to stabilize the gyrations in tax revenue intake and enforcement."
