The Story
The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) will open a 12-week consultation period as it studies the use of credit cards for online gambling. The commission is considering an outright ban on credit card gambling, but “it must take account of the impact of a ban or restrictions on gamblers who are not experiencing gambling harms.” However, an outright ban would significantly damage the gambling sector, as online licensees are already bracing for a major hit from the hike in Remote Gaming Duty come October 1.
