A sports gambling bill is headed to Gov. J.B. Prtizker’s desk for signature after the Illinois Senate and House approved the measure in just two days over the weekend. The cash-strapped state hopes to realize over $200m in additional funding by expanding its gambling activity, which will include both land-based and online sports betting, slot machine operations at racetracks, and six new casinos. The bill also provided three online-only licenses that will be launched 18 months after retail betting starts.
