The Story

In a 155-125 vote, Italy’s parliament passed a bill banning all kinds of gambling ads in the country. With this, no gambling products will be advertised on TV, radio, and the Internet.

There’s only one party that is happy with this development.

Aside from gambling ads, all partnerships between sports teams and gambling operators were also outlawed. However, the state-owned national lottery was exempted from the new legislation. While the ban won’t take effect until January 1, 2019, any current contract that won’t expire on that day were deemed effective only by June 30, 2019.
