The Story

Sportsradar booted out James Watson, its former head for eSports, for supposedly placing bets on Unikrn.

The investigation started when Watson was publicly called out for his wagering.

Last month, Unikrn CEO Rahul Sood exposed the Sportsradar official for visiting their gambling platforms. This led to the investigation made by the company which focused on two things: that Watson placed bets with Unikrn; and that he placed bets using privileged information. It was found that Watson did not use privileged information to bet, but it was evident that he placed “low-level” bets on Unikrn. As a result of a strong company policy against their employees betting, Watson and Sportsradar “mutually agreed” that it was his time to go.
