As basketball fans, and fans of pure entertainment, we should all hope the Los Angeles Lakers win the NBA championship, just so we can see more of Sir Ron Artest.
Ron Artest is the NBA’s new Dennis Rodman, without the suspensions and wedding dresses and rebounds. He’s pure entertainment, and he actually steps huge when the Lakers need him the most. This was never more evident in last night’s game against the Phoenix Suns, in which the Lakers battled the Suns to a triple OT victory in what was by far the game of the year.
From the onset of the game, both the Suns and the Lakers were playing at a high level offensively and any bettor that took the over on this game should have been wearing a huge smile after the first half. The Lakers had allowed 58 points at halftime, so you knew this game was going to be out of the ordinary.
The competition level far exceeded that of a regular season game as both teams really needed the win. Phoenix needed the win to keep their playoffs chances alive and the Lakers needed the win to stay ahead of Dallas to keep home court advantage should they face the Mavs in the second round.
The result was an epic battle with superstars making plays through 7 quarters of basketball. But much like last year’s Game 7 in the NBA Finals, it was Ron Artest who stole the show. Kobe was also unbelievable with his 42 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists, but it was Artest who made spectacular plays down the stretch to seal the 139-137 win for the Lakers.
Artest’s showmanship is second to none. Whether he’s blowing kisses to the crowd or kissing his biceps, he’s truly something to watch. Apparently, Artest is also a boxing promoter, as he continues to promote the Mayweather and Pacquiao fight. He’s as good as Don King!
Check out Artest in the postgame interview, pure comedy in case you missed it.
