Gold-Pay.com suspends transactions; Rank Group rifles through your knickers

gold-pay-rank-groupGold-Pay.com, so named because their customers nominally purchased gold e-currency for use in online financial transactions, has apparently become the latest payment processor to run afoul of the US justice system. In a recent letter to customers, Gold-Pay reported that “pending legal matters” compelled the company to “suspend all gaming related transactions.” No timeline was provided for the lifting of this suspension, and access to customer accounts “will not be possible until the legal issues have been resolved.” Acknowledging that its decision was “unexpected and unfortunate,” the company apologized for the “disruption.”

Rank Interactive will be among the UK-based companies providing their outsider views on North American regulation at the 11th Global iGaming Summit & Expo (GIGSE) on May 17-19 in San Francisco, CA. In the meantime, Rank intends to stalk little old pepperpots in bingo halls, ask ‘em how they’re getting on, maybe follow them home and ask to come inside for a cuppa. According to the Financial Times, these are the “immersive” techniques being employed by Rank’s market researchers. Senior staff members will get to know their customers over a nice long chat, then it’s off to yours to chat some more and photograph your dust bunnies. Rank will also accompany you to bingo joints and casinos, studying your every move. After that, well… Use your imagination. Even better, use our imagination. Remember, Rank VPs, the customer is always right.

Finally, Betfair is extending its sponsorship of the Betfair Chase (the three-mile Grade One Lancashire Chase for the rest of you) at Haydock Park for a further three years. The deal guarantees a minimum kitty of £200k, which Haydock’s managing director Dickon White believes will ensure the Chase remains “the highlight of our jump racing season since it began.”
