Fixed Odds Betting Terminals (FOBTs) came onto the betting shop scene almost ten years ago, and immediately offered visitors to various shops a new experience. Although they serve a purpose, and are very popular amongst punters, it’s hard not to compare them to porn, i.e. you get the feeling you’re there and that you’re involved, but it’s never as good as the real thing. Inspired Gaming aren’t likely to be phased by this though.
The server based gaming (SBG) specialist has today announced that its FOBT customers are showing the most growth and highest income amongst UK bookmakers. Recently Paddy Power and William Hill released improved results, specifically thanking Inspired’s ‘Storm’ cabinet as a key driver for growth. William Hill’s gaming machines gross win was up by 11%, with Paddy Power seeing FOBT increase by 14%.
MD of Inspired’s FBO division, Martin Lucas, said: “The UK betting industry is pretty crowded and Inspired is proud to have the most compelling and competitive offer. The recent financial results show the impact that the right gaming technology can have on the bottom line.”
It goes without saying that the decision by William Hill and Paddy Power to use these FOBTs in the first place was an inspired one.
