PokerStars has launched Pot-Limit Omaha Spin & Go games at the $1, $3, $7 and $15 buy-in levels, and Daniel Negreanu gives you a six-minute breakdown of his thoughts on improving the mental side of poker.
PokerStars has launched Pot Limit Omaha (PLO) games on the fashionable Spin & Go format. Severin Rasset, Director of Poker Operations & Innovation, stated in a press release that the addition of the four-card whizz, bang, wallop of a game was a decision made after receiving feedback from players.
It was the French online poker room Winamax who squeezed the Three-Max Hyper Turbo Lottery Style Sit & Go down the birth canal. Expresso Poker was born in August 2013, but it wasn’t until PokerStars launched their version called Spin & Go in Oct 2014 that the game became en vogue.
PokerStars launched the format much to the chagrin of the Grinders who thought the fast-paced game would take punters away from their tables, and they were right when players managed to cram in 7.3 million games in the first ten-days. But the Grinders adapted, and plenty of them are making money in this fast and fun alternative to the Sit & Go format.
The new Omaha games feature at the $1, $3, $7 and $15 buy-in levels and PokerStars Team Pro, Lex Veldhuis, said the pair are a match made in heaven. Keep an eye on the Dutchman’s Twitch Stream to see how he fairs playing the new format.
To celebrate the launch, PokerStars are hosting a series of PLO Spin & Go Satellites for Event #5 Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) Pot-Limit Omaha. If you compete in these satellite events you have a 15,685 in 100,000 chance to win a seat into the $27 buy-in {Low} event, a 502 in 100,000 chance of winning a seat in the $215 buy-in {Medium} event, and a 5 in 100,000 chance of winning a seat into the $2,100 buy-in {High} event.
Daniel Negreanu on The Mental Game of Poker
Sticking with the PokerStars theme and Daniel Negreanu posted a short six-minute VLOG on his YouTube channel where he delivered some solid advice on improving the mental side of poker.
The PokerStars Ambassador was prompted to talk about this side of the game after listening to David Sklansky talking about mental preparation on the Twoplustwo PokerCast with the hosts Terrence Chan and Adam Schwartz. Talking about Sklansky’s view on this side of the game, Negreanu said:
“It was mind-boggling how little he understood about what it actually means,”
Negreanu then spent a few minutes talking about the importance of mentally preparing yourself for whatever it is that you want to succeed at in life. And called the hate that is generated towards this type of learning silly before going on to say that anyone believing that focusing on this side of your game is harmful is absurd and offensive.
Negreanu then posed the question:
“Eating well, sleeping better, meditating, being organised, how can that be harmful?”
My sentiments, exactly.
