The Charity Series of Poker raised over $12,000 for Support the Kid, a foundation created to help children fight cancer, and poker charity founder Matt Stout wins the first prize.
Adam Robinson said something very important to Tim Ferris during his recent podcast appearance. I am paraphrasing, but he essentially said that our suffering is caused when we focus on ourselves.
What I take from that golden nugget is to end personal suffering, focus your attention on serving others. But how do you do that? You can call your mother and tell her you love her. You can listen to your shopkeeper talking about her onions instead of talking about your bunions. Or you could start a charity and raise money for good causes.
On January 29th Matt Stout and his Charity Series of Poker (CSOP), set up shop at the Borgata Casino Hotel & Spa to raise money for the Support the Kid Foundation. It was the ninth such event that Stout has organised to help reduce suffering in the world.
111 entrants spent $220 (or more) to compete in the Turbo No-Limit Hold’em fun fest. And it was Stout himself who won the tournament, and $3,068 first prize, topping a final table that including Jamie Kerstetter, Bernard Lee, and the actress Brittany Paige.
The event raised more than $12,000 for the Support the Kid Foundation. A Foundation with the mission to help raise funds to assist children who are fighting cancer. Since 2014, the Foundation has raised more than $100,000 for their cause.
The Borgata also played their part offering the players a free bar for 90-minutes, and some free grub. As a special thank you to the players who contributed, they were given professionally printed event photos and a goody bag.

If you are a supporter of CSOP and missed the event then don’t sweat. The next event will take place in Las Vegas July 8 or 9. At present the venue is Planet Hollywood, but it could move to a venue owned by the Three Square Food Bank after CSOP received regulatory approval to hold the event there.
After that, CSOP plan to host an event as part of the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open, Florida, August 10 or 11.
