The recent closures of the online poker rooms at Playboy Poker and Casino Gran Madrid have had a few bottom lips sagging. Gaming Innovation Group (GIG) has theirs upturned in a more promising pose.

The owners of Guts.com, iGaming Cloud; Innovation Labs and Rizk are letting their guts lose on the Microgaming Poker Network (MPN) with a new online poker offering joining their casino and sportsbook by the end of the year. The move makes sense as Guts casino and mobile product is powered by Microgaming’s Quickfire platform.

Robin Reed, CEO, of GIG was quoted as saying that ‘GIG originated from the poker industry’ and that the game was ‘in our DNA’. GIG own the poker forum and affiliate site Donkr.com.

Alex Scott, Head of Poker at Microgaming believes Guts.com is joining them at ‘a very exciting time.’ They will join the likes of BetVictor Poker, 32Red Poker, Betsson Poker, Betsafe Poker and Adjara Bet Poker. SBOBET also joined the MPN in May.

Guts.com were in the news earlier this year when they exited the German market after a player was fined €65k for playing on an unauthorized, and unnamed, international online site. It was reported that he won €200k playing Blackjack before the local law became suspicious following his withdrawal patterns.

GIG Acquires Estonian Affiliate

In other GIG news, they have completed the acquisition of an affiliate network based in Estonia. The deal is connected with their aforementioned seed Innovation Labs. The deal is expected to generate more than 20,000 new customers for B2B clients over the next three years.

In June GIG took a foothold in the Finnish market after acquiring another affiliate network based in the country. CEO Robin Reed said the deal cost €440,000, in addition to 1,021,000 new GIG shares for the network. The expectation was for a further 15,000 new customers for B2B clients over a three year stretch.

The increased distribution channels are vital for the growth of their platform service ‘iGaming Cloud.’

Reed replaced Kjetil Myrild Aasen as CEO of GIG at the beginning of June. He has been a member of the company since 2009.
