IGT Names Dr. Samantha Ravich to board of directorsOn the same day that International Game Technology (IGT) PLC announced a 5% increase in revenue in the second quarter of this year, it was also announced that Dr. Samantha Ravich had been named to the Board of Directors. This move became effective on June 30.

In a press release, it was announced that Dr. Ravich was named to the nominating and corporate governance committee at IGT. She is currently serving as the vice-chair of the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board and has served as the Deputy National Security Advisor for former Vice President Dick Cheney.

Her impressive credentials extend beyond these qualifications, however. Dr. Ravich is the chair of the Center on Cyber and Technology Innovation at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies. She is also a commissioner on the Cyberspace Solarium Commission and is a member of the Secretary of Energy’s Advisory Board.

Dr. Ravitch received her PhD in policy analysis from the RAND Graduate School at the University of Pennsylvania. She currently serves as the managing partner at A2P and is a board governor at GIA.

It is this impressive set of credentials that makes Dr. Ravich a perfect addition at IGT. “Samantha’s extensive experience, and focus on cybersecurity, are welcome complements to the existing expertise of our board members,” explained Lorenzo Pellicioli, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of IGT, in the announcement. “We look forward to working with her.”

The announcement of Dr. Ravich comes on the same day that IGT announced a 5% increase in total revenue for the second quarter of 2019. The company reported a cash flow of $592 million, with a free cash flow of $361 million. These were both record first-half levels for the company, which reported a $0.20 increase in the cash dividend per share in the company.

Explained Marco Sala, CEO at IGT, about the record cash flow, “We had a strong second quarter, with top-line growth driven by a sharp increase in gambling product sales and impressive gains in global lottery same-store revenues. Profits were up nicely in our North America Gaming and Italy segments.”

IGT has become one of the leading companies across the globe in gambling development and distribution. They have developed games that have become favorites by users of gaming machines and lotteries. They currently have over 12,000 employees and are providing gaming machines that are used in over 100 countries across the world.
