Callouts across ten categories for the gambling technology giant.
London, April 25 2019 –Playtech, the world’s leading omni-channel gaming company, has been shortlisted in five categories for the Women in Gaming (WiG) Diversity Awards, with Playtech content studio Quickspin scoring a further six nominations.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2019, the Women in Gaming Diversity Awards recognises and promotes gender diversity and wellbeing across the industry, honouring the contributions of both organisations and individuals, from senior figures to stars of the future.
Playtech team members are shortlisted in the Industry Achiever, Employee of the Year, Inspiration of the Year, Leader of the Year and Star of the Future categories, with colleagues from a range of business areas and locations receiving recognition for their hard work and innovation. Lauren Iannarone (Compliance – Industry Achiever), Olena Kostylova (Live Casino – Employee of the Year), Ilze Cubare (Live Casino – Inspiration of the Year), Karin Fuchs (Playtech BGT Sports – Leader of the Year) and Marta Āboltiņa (Live Casino – Star of the Future) are all hoping to build on Playtech’s success at the 2018 Awards.
Playtech enjoyed a double win last year, with Head of Tax, Kam Sanghera, triumphing in the Star of the Future category, and Lucy Owen, the company’s Head of Account Management and Commercial Director, being honoured with the Industry Pride award – the only award not open to direct nominations, but chosen from the finalists by the panel to recognise “one exceptional woman whose vision, innovative approach and success make her an outstanding role model”.
As a previous winner and an internal diversity champion at Playtech, Owen recognises the value and impact events such as the WiGs can have, commenting: ‘Everyone at Playtech is passionate about creating opportunities for our team members to grow, develop and reach their full potential. There is a perception that, in this industry, gender can be an issue when it comes to maximising that potential, and that’s something we’re 100% committed to tackling head-on.
“The Women in Gaming Diversity Awards of course honour the fantastic work of some of the leading figures in our industry, but they can do more than that; they can be a chance to inspire the leaders of tomorrow. The more opportunities there are for women to see positive role models being recognised for their achievements, the more we can do to eradicate preconceptions of the industry as gender-biased”.
Elsewhere in the wider Playtech group, Stockholm-based content studio Quickspin, acquired by Playtech in 2016, has received six nominations, including the prestigious Company of the Year and Best Place to Work awards. Emilie Zamponi (Gamification Sales – B2B Excellence), Sandra Lindberg (HR – Leader of the Year), Valeria Russo (Account Management – Star of the Future) and Tetyana Matvyeyeva (Market and Integrations – Young Leader of the Year) all receive individual nominations.
