One of the hottest tourist destinations these days has been Cambodia. With its rich history and culture, fantastic climate, and incredible natural wonders, this land has become a sought-after location for many from across the globe. Even two seasons of the CBS hit show Survivor were filmed in the islands off the coast of Cambodia.

Several fantastic resorts and hotels have opened in the Southwest region of Cambodia, but the Won Majestic Casino Hotel & Resort in Sihanoukville may wind up being the grandest of them all. The 150 room hotel is expected to open in the early part of 2021, with a number of great amenities including five F&B outlets, a rooftop pool, and a fully equipped gym that overlooks the beach.
It will truly be one of the most spectacular destination getaways, especially now that Malaysian based WA Hospitality has agreed to manage the resort when it opens two years from now. That news was announced on Monday, giving it the first overseas contract earned by the hospitality company.
Cambodia has rapidly become a real player in the gaming world. In the last year, the country has issued an increase of 53% in new licenses to open up casino resorts in the country.
The majority of these licenses were intended for the Sihanoukville area, and with good reason. This area was a getaway for many of the elite of Cambodia during the French rule, with amazing hotels and shops, and continued to be a great getaway spot even during some of the darker periods in the country’s history.
Now, the new government in Cambodia has seen fit to resurrect this majestic place as a can’t miss vacation getaway. With increased adult entertainment focused on casinos, there is no doubt that people from neighboring countries like China, Japan, and South Korea will see Cambodia as the perfect getaway. However, Survivor made it a household word in the United States, which has helped to increase tourism from North America by more than 40% since the show aired four years ago.
Now, with one of the premier management companies in place to operate the resort and Casino, tourists can expect a vacation getaway that is second to none. Preparations will continue for that opening day, which should truly be a grand occasion.
