October 11, 2017 – For the first time since the inception of the Asian Poker Tour, the annual APT Kickoff event will be changing locations from the islands of the Philippines to the exotic country of Vietnam. In partnership with host venue Pro Poker Club, the APT Kickoff Vietnam 2018, will be held in Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, the country’s biggest and most vibrant city.
“We are very proud to be able to host and bring back the Asian Poker Tour to Vietnam. Due to the recently passed law allowing local players to participate in a poker tournament, players can expect larger player numbers per event unlike the APT Vietnam held back in 2015,” expressed Pro Poker Club Operations Manager Anh Nguyen.
This major change is the APT’s first step towards a more diversified schedule for the 2018 poker season, adding more countries and exciting destinations to the new calendar.
The nine-day APT Kickoff Vietnam 2018 is slated to take place from January 19 – 28, 2018. The event will feature a VND 16,500,000 buy-in Main Event and 17 APT signature tournaments ranging from VND 3,000,000 – VND 32,000,000. Some of the most popular side events are of course in the roster such as the NLH Welcome Event, Main Event Warm-Up, Head Hunter, Monster Stack, Deep Stack Turbo events, and the High Rollers.
Pro Poker Club
Late July 2017, the Pro Poker Club became the first poker room to open in Ho Chi Minh City offering daily tournaments to both locals and foreigners alike with a minimum gaming age of 18 years old. The room fits up to 21 poker tables. In addition to tournaments, players can opt to play various Sit N’ Go formats – standard format with increasing blinds; fixed-time limit with steady blindsand single table satellite.
Situated at the city-centre, locally known as District 3, the area is considered to be the trendiest, most upbeat and upscale section of HCMC. It is equipped with its own café serving local and western dishes. While the area has an abundance of places to eat, historic landmarks to visit, shopping havens for bargain hunters, and of course a booming nightlife.
