NBA Western Conference Finals: Golden State Warriors survive elimination

The Golden State Warriors is not going home, yet.

NBA Western Conference Finals: Golden State Warriors survive eliminationDespite double-digit points from Kevin Durant with 40 and Russell Westbrook 31, the Warriors still manage to stave off elimination with a 120-111 victory over Oklahoma Thunders in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals.

Golden State Warriors had home-court support and we know that the Splash brothers, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, are lethal when they are at home court, as proven in Game 2. Curry scored 31 points while Thompson chipped in 27 points.

“We just did what we’re supposed to do. We’re supposed to win at home,” Curry said. “We know what we still have to do going forward. We knew if we didn’t win we were going home. There’s no other motivation you need.”

Draymond Green, whose kicking controversy continues in Game 6, added 11 points and Andrew Bogut has 15 points and 14 rebounds. Green’s flailing legs did its stunt again not just once but twice in this game but neither play was officiated as a foul. It seems that Green kept on getting away from this disputatious act after avoiding suspensions from kicking Steve Adams’ groin and tripping Enes Kanter.

In addition to Westbrook and Durant’s points, Steve Adams made 8 points and 10 rebounds and Serge Ibaka added 13 points.

Game 6 is back in Oklahoma City on Saturday and although the Golden State Warriors looked like their old wining selves again, they are still on the verge of elimination with Oklahoma City being one win away from advancing to NBA Finals.

“We’re going back home but we can’t relax. We have to keep our foot on the gas and we have to play much better,” said Durant. “We played extremely hard tonight. They didn’t outplay us. They didn’t outwork us. We have to bring that energy back home it was a matter of us making a few shots and playing a little more solid defense on them. We’ll see what happens.”
