Vanessa Selbst Passes the Bar; Chris Moorman Passes Lisbon Passport Control, and Terrence Chan Passes on The Colossus

Vanessa Selbst has successfully passed the bar exam, Chris Moorman has successfully returned to the UK in one piece after a vibrant stag weekend in Lisbon, and Terrence Chan is going to skip the Colossus in favor of having a good old fashioned fight.

It’s unusual to wake up in the morning and not read how Vanessa Selbst had single handedly taken apart a final table, on her way to one form of glory or another, but that’s what we’ve settled for as she found the time to study for her bar exam.

Vanessa Selbst Passes the Bar; Chris Moorman Passes Lisbon Passport Control, and Terrence Chan Passes on The Colossus Selbst graduated from law school in 2012. At that time she was winning enough money at the poker tables to set her up for life. Law or poker? It didn’t matter how many times she flipped that one in the air, it would have always landed on poker.

Several years; millions of dollars, and some exciting trinkets later, Selbst decided it was time to finish the work she had started in 2008. She pushed poker to one side, locked herself in her office, and went to work. That’s why we have only caught glimpses of her par excellence this past year.

But she is back.

We hope.

All the hard work was worth it. Selbst passed the bar exam and she now has an alternative career, should a group of clueless government officials ever decide to ban live and online poker over fears that terrorists will somehow use flops, turns and rivers, to take over the world.

Chris Moorman Survives His Stag Weekend

One imagines there were a few British poker players that may have needed Selbst’s help this weekend, as the most prolific online poker player in the game’s history, Chris Moorman, headed to the Portuguese capital of Lisbon for his stag weekend.

Triple Crown winner Jake Cody, European Poker Tour (EPT) winners Toby Lewis and Tom Middleton, World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner Craig McCorkell, and a whole host of other legends like Richard Trigg, Dave Nicholson, Sam Grafton and Jack Ellwood joined Moorman for a weekend of drunken debauchery.

However, there was no rest for the wicked.

I bumped into Chris Moorman and Toby Lewis in London, a day after they landed in the country. Exhausted, and a little under the weather, the pair logged on and played the usual Sunday grind for the next 13-hours.

Moorman his due to marry his fiancée Katie Lindsay in the summer.

Terrence Chan Misses the Colossus; Prefers a Good Fight Instead

I doubt the British lads needed any heavy armory during their trip to Lisbon, but if they did, Terrence Chan would have been the man to have in their party. He is hard as nails.

Chan has reported on his blog that he will be appearing on the card for the forthcoming Battlefield Fight League 36 in Richmond BC’s River Rock Casino.

“I am possibly the first person to both play a WSOP Circuit event and fight in a cage in the same room.” Said Chan.

The former member of Ultimate Poker will square off against Blake Sigvaldason, and Chan is expecting his toughest fight yet. The only minor dent to his enthusiasm is the fact that he will miss the WSOP Colossus event.

Tickets for the Chan fight are available on Ticketmaster.
