Atlantic City’s Golden Nugget casino may have lagged its competitors in making it to the Nov. 26 starting line for real-money online gambling, but better late than never. On Friday, the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement authorized GoldenNuggetCasino.com to release the online hounds at 12:01am on Saturday, joining the six other casinos and their 13 online sites currently serving New Jersey residents.
General manager Tom Pohlman said the delay in getting underway was necessary because the company hadn’t been satisfied “with what we were ready to offer our customers at that point.” Pohlman now claims to be “very satisfied” with the Nugget’s online casino, which offers 77 slots, video poker and table games titles, which the company claims beats any of its competitors in terms of sheer volume. Said games come from a variety of third-party providers, including Amaya Gaming, Bally Technologies, IGT and SHFL Entertainment, and are available on both PC and Mac platforms, with iOS and Android mobile apps expected in January. The Nugget’s online poker site is also expected to debut in January.
Pohlman is similarly chuffed to announce the Nugget’s (so far) unique solution to the problems many users have encountered trying to fund their online accounts. In addition to the standard ACH, Visa, Mastercard, bank transfer, personal check and cash-at-the-cage options, the Nugget is the first New Jersey online site to allow deposits via a prepaid card running on the Discover network. Cardholders can instantly transfer funds to and from their online account for gaming purposes, while non-gaming withdrawals and purchases are authorized wherever Discover is accepted. Interested players can order a card via the casino site, after which they can expect to have it delivered to their door within two weeks.
