World Poker Tour Montreal has reached the penultimate day of action and Sylvain Siebert leads the final 18 players, including the likes of Ludovic Lacay, Lily Kiletto, Amir Babakhani and Griffin Benger.
The World Poker Tour (WPT) Montreal has moved into the fourth day of action and the Day 1C chip leader Sylvain Siebert leads the final 18 players with 2,947,000 chips.
Day 2 chip leader Ludovic Lacay has also made the cut with 543,000, and he is joined by the likes of Lily Kiletto (1,800,000), WPT Champions Club member Amir Babakhani (1,656,000) and Griffin Benger (586,000).
Lacay never does things the easy way and the second day of action was no different. For most of the day he was motoring along nicely until he lost a huge pot against Zennawi Petros on a board of [5s] [6h] [3d] [7d] [8h]. Lacay paying off a chunky river bet and then mucking when Petros showed pocket sevens for the turned set.
The Frenchman would later find himself all-in, and way behind, in a hand against Amir Babakhani. It was pocket tens for Lacay and pocket kings for Babakhani and the board ran out to hand the former European Poker Tour (EPT) champion a straight.
Babakhani would respond to that spot of bad luck by doubling through the chip leader Siebert QQ v AT to make sure he would find a place in the Day 4 seat draw.
As is becoming quite standard in the big majors these days, Lily Kiletto is flying the flag for the ladies with an impressive 1.8m in chips. The fashion designer/poker player earned the majority of those in a three way all-in that saw her pocket nines strike a flush to defeat the pocket tens and ace-jack that was standing in her way.
Another player to keep a beady eye out for is Griffin Benger. The online sensation and former EPT Berlin High Roller champion secured a spot in the last 18 with a series of double ups, that included a QQ v AJ stand off against Lacay.
Players who failed to make the grade included Kevin MacPhee who was eliminated in a three way all when his Jacks failed to trump the A9 of Siebert; Scott Baumstein ran his final 7BB and pocket deuces into the Q8o of his opponent to bail out in 48th; Victor Ramdin flopped a boat on 992 holding deuces only to be scuppered by Patrick Eskander and a bigger boat; Guillaume Darcourt ran KQ into pocket tens; Andy Hwang ran AK into Siebert’s sevens; and Yann Dion ran sevens into the eights of Mukul Pahuja.
Day 4 will commence at 12:00 (local time) where they will play down to the final table.
