Betfair goes mobile with mkodo

Since floating on the stock market, Betfair has seen a number of its key executives exit the company. Currently, the company now processes over 5 million transactions a day from its 3 million registered customers around the world. Now in a move to capitalize on the thriving mobile market, online betting exchange Betfair has selected mkodo’s Intelligent Mobile Platform to help develop its next generation mobile gaming offering.

Initially, Betfair will use mkodo’s development team to build mobile services using a version of mkodo’s Portal Builder product. All updates will then be made in-house by the Betfair team.

It’s certainly a huge step for mkodo to have been selected by Betfair as echoed by the sentiments of Mark Gibson, Business Development Director at mkodo, in the release, “We have found that betting and gaming operators are not looking for a ‘one size fits all’ solution but rather for a modular product suite that works within the real commercial world of their individual environments and that enables differentiation,” he said. “This is what mkodo offers.”

It’s yet another move by Betfair to leverage the revenue generating power of their mobile offering. With mobile gaming already the popular preference in Asia, Betfair continues to focus on expanding the availability of its betting exchange across a variety of mobile platforms by releasing apps for the iPhone, iPad and Android devices.
