Tonight marks the first time that the England team have got together for a number of months and it just so happens that it’s a friendly match. For those not in the know it’s one of the games that no one really gives a fuck about but for team spirit and all that they need to be taken part in.
No matter that a number of the first team will not be involved, and substitutions are usually done as if they’re going out of fashion, when else are you going to be able to travel to Copenhagen in the name of the beer and football!
Although if you thought the game was going to be a dire one, soccer’s answer to the entire New York Jets organization is playing in the game. If you thought Rex Ryan’s brash confidence was off-putting, meet Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner.
In the past he’s been attributed various quotes including telling the world he was allowed to wear Pink boots as he’s good enough to wear them. He’s also known for missing bag loads of chances most games he plays but is quoted in the past as saying, “I should start every game, I should be playing every minute of every match and always be in the team.”
On the eve of playing for his country, Victor Chandler spokesman Charlie McCann said: “One thing the Gunners striker does not lack is confidence and whether he said it or not he is often attributed with having described himself as the best striker in the world. We will refund all losing correct score and first goalscorer bets if he scores at any time in Copenhagen.”
Another ringing endorsement there for Mr Bendtner ahead of tonight’s game, but if he’s ever going to score against England tonight might be his best chance yet.
