While cheerleaders are something one ordinarily associates with football, there are a great many National Hockey League franchises south of the 49th parallel who employ the skills/talents/bums/boobs of young, attractive women to raise the, um, spirits of frozen hockey fans. Now Canada, hockey’s spiritual homeland, has gotten into the act.
On Tuesday night, the Edmonton Oilers debuted Octane, their 19-member ‘cheer squad.’ You can check out all the individual girls’ profiles here, but you can also check them out in action via the video below. For our money, the best part of the video is how the various Oilers players bend over backward to insist that they have taken no notice whatsoever of the girls pom-poms, but, you know, if it makes the fans happy…
