Sport’s clubs do often court the ridiculous but the latest coming out of one English soccer club is ridiculous. Southampton, now languishing in the third tier, have banned all photographers from games except their own club’s official snapper. The reason for this? Not really sure. The BBC rang several times but calls weren’t returned, or they were just prank calling the South Coast club to try and really piss them off.
Opening weekend opponent Plymouth’s local newspaper took along a cartoonist to document the game’s events, and the outcome brings back memories of Roy of the Rovers – as did Argyle’s performance. Thankfully Southampton have no plans to change the policy, meaning cartoons could be common place. Read more.
