Canada’s Amaya Gaming Group raises $5M in IPO

Amaya-Gaming-IPOMontreal-based tech firm Amaya Gaming Group, makers of Pokerstation, Pokermate and Mosino automated poker applications for online gambling companies and electronic table games, has raised $5M in an IPO.

Clearly, if one wants to be a gambling-related tech firm, it’s better to be based in Quebec than in British Columbia. BC’s legislators never saw fit to nurture the development of such firms when they were based in their own backyard, which meant that the ill-fated PlayNow site that BC’s Lottery Corp. attempted to launch last week was powered with wonky technology from the UK. Still, we’re sure the bosses of those UK tech companies will happily use a few of those BC tax dollars to send BCLC officials a nice fruit-basket to make amends. Read more.
