Fifa has given their strongest indication yet that it will change the laws of the game regarding goal-line technology, because Frank Lampard’s ghost goal against Germany was a “bad day” for organisers. I’m sure the England players and fans feel very bad that their World Cup exit left the suits in the posh seats unable to stomach their prawn sandwiches but they will be immensely relieved that a similar scenario won’t occur in four years from time, when they probably won’t even have qualified for the Brazil showpiece.
