International Game Technology to quit Japan

IGTjapanThe Rising Sun has set on slot machine maker IGT’s Japanese operations. After ‘difficult market conditions’ in Japan resulted in a $21M loss in 2009, the Reno-based company has decided to cease supplying services to the country’s pachisuro gaming parlors. The move will likely cost the company a further $20M, but IGT hopes to recoup its losses by expanding its operations stateside, Italy and elsewhere in Southeast Asia. Read more.
