Pardew odds on for Toon job

pardew-set-for-toonIt’s widely believed that Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley will put pay to any rumours still flying around about his new manager within the next 24 hours, after the controversial sacking of Chris Hughton earlier this week. Hughton refused the assistant manager’s job at his local branch of Sports Direct and is now completely out of a job. There’s not even a managerial merry-go-round surrounding the club’s next manager either. It’s barely even a Bob the Builder kid’s ride.

Alan Pardew can now be found at odds as short as 1/12 with William Hill, and spokesperson Graham Sharpe yesterday said: “Eighty per cent of today’s bets have been for Pardew to get the job”.

As Pards is up for this job, it’s surely more than appropriate to re-air that footage of Alan’s final appearance on Match of the Day 2 where he compared Michael Essien’s play to the act of rape. The pause after he says it is well worth a look, and can be seen here.

Twitter’s world of Z-list footballers and ex-footballers are spouting all kinds of vitriol about this appointment. Former-Chelsea youth player Leon Knight tweeted: “Alan pardew ….. Oi Ashley do the newcastle united fans a favour and F-OFF !!!!”

Anyone that follows Knight will know this isn’t out of the ordinary, one word of advice to Ashley though. Maybe keep a tight reign on his press conferences when he’s appointed.
