The iGB Espana conference has finished and now all that’s left is a networking event tonight and then it’s a free-for-all for anyone who is in Madrid until tomorrow.
Day two of iGB Espana attracted a noticeably thinner crowd than day one, more than likely as a direct result of last night’s Official iGB Espana at Pacha. Nonetheless, today’s sessions were well attended and informational, most notably the mobile gaming session led by Marcela Torres of Probability PLC and the emergence of the Latin American market session led by Javier Waldman of 888.com.
Marcela explained how mobile gaming in Spain is on the rise and that many people in Spain choose not to pay for the internet at home but often use their mobile phones instead. In addition, people who tend to purchase data plans for their mobile phones have a higher spending power than the average person and are also excellent targets for the mobile gaming market. In Spain (and all across Europe) mobile gaming is becoming a great addition to the suite of services offered by an operator as gamblers have the luxury of wagering money at the bar or at a game where it is impossible to use a PC.
Javier’s session dedicated to player acquisition and retention in the Latin American market focused on the payment solution struggles that exist in the market, mainly due to the lack of international credit cards. However, payment solutions such as “You Cash” are beginning to surface, making the movement of money in Latin American countries a lot easier. The recent evolution of the internet, the emerging middle class and the increase of social networking in Latin America are all proof that this market has great potential for iGaming.
Tonight iGB Espana delegates have one more networking celebration taking place at Sol y Sombra with an open bar from 10-12pm. This is the perfect pre-party spot to meet up with delegates before a big Saturday night out in Madrid with a group that that does not have to get up for anything tomorrow…except for a maybe plane flight.
