The Philippines’ Bureau of Internal Revenue as issued another warning against Philippine Offshore Gambling Operators (POGOs) to pay their tax deficiencies or else risk losing millions when they’re closed.

Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Commissioner Caesar R. Dulay specifically asked Philippine Offshore Gambling Operators (POGOs) to comply with the their tax demand letters or else face closures. “Tell them to cooperate and volunteer to pay. The problem is they don’t respond to our demand letters,” Dulay said in a Manila Bulletin report. And if POGOs think the Philippine government is kidding, they should take a look at the case of Great Empire Gaming and Amusement Corp (GEGAC). GEGAC was only allowed to reopen after agreeing to pay their P250 million ($4.82 million) worth of taxes and additional penalties, and to pay the PHP 1.3 billion ($25 million) remaining balance in the next three months.
