The Story
Philippine police raided Xin Huang Jin Chen Co., Ltd., Inc. (XHJC) in Cebu province recently, resulting in the detention of 181 Chinese employees and some Thai and Korean nationals. Since they cannot fit in jail cells, the police decided to lock them up in a gym. Police claim that XHJC did not have a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGO) license. However, this was countered by XHJC, claiming that the raid was conducted because the company refused to give in to police corruption. XHJC also slammed the police for allegedly intimidating and “targeting” the Chinese employees.
