MGM Resorts’ new Springfield property experienced nearly twice as much crime in its first four months of operation compared with the number of crimes that Penn National Gaming’s Plainridge Park Casino dealt with all year. A WCVB report stated that Massachusetts State Police recorded 208 incidents and 120 arrests inside MGM Springfield between September and December 2018, in contrast with the 115 incidents at Plainridge Park for 2018. Even the area surrounding MGM Springfield saw the commission of 115 crimes in the five months following the casino’s opening.
