The Story

Las Vegas-based casino giant MGM Resorts International scored a major win against its rivals in the U.S. sports betting scene after becoming the NBA’s official gaming partner.

NBA describes its deal with MGM as a “leap of faith.”

While MGM and NBA remained mum on the terms of the deal, it is said that the league will give MGM access to NBA’s data feed for $25m over a three-year period. MGM is also given rights to team logos and the bragging rights of being NBA’s “official partner.” The deal is deemed to be historic as it marks the first time that NBA had a B2B partnership with a sportsbook. This is also seen as a compromise for sports leagues to cash in on betting while they continue to fight for their “integrity fees.”
