The Story

Reports claiming that Las Vegas Sands chief Sheldon Adelson is planning to build a casino in North Korea are nothing but fake news.

It pays to read Adelson’s statement thoroughly.

In a speech last June 27, Adelson shared that he served during the Korean War and that he doesn’t want to “go back to Korea to fight.” “I want to go back to Korea to open up my business,” he added.

While some gaming media outlets interpreted Adelson’s statement that he is thinking of setting up a North Korean casino, the Sands chief did not specify which Korea he was referring to in his speech. What is sure is that he has repeatedly floated the idea of having resorts in Incheon and Busan in South Korea.
