James Packer has quit as the director of the Australian-listed casino operator, seven months after he returned to the Crown Resorts board.

 

James Packer needs to step back.

In a statement, Crown Resorts said the Aussie billionaire resigned for “personal reasons.” To give more context, Packer’s spokesperson said that the businessman has been “suffering from mental health issues,” which resulted in his decision “to step back from all commitments.” The announcement follows a series of unfortunate events that hit Packer—from the fallout of Crown's global expansion plans to his very much publicized breakup with singer Mariah Carey, as well as the company being investigated for allegedly allowing tampered pokies in their property.
