If those in the iGaming industry thought that now Norbert Teufelberger was part of an even bigger company that he’d pipe down a little, then people you were wrong! The co-CEO of Pwin has this time been telling anyone on the Champs Elysees that’ll actually give him the time of day that he’s not happy other companies are stealing his thunder in Gaul.
eGaming Review reports that at Pwin’s first results presentation, Norbert told ARJEL, in no uncertain terms, that they need to act against companies who are operating unregulated in the French sports betting market and name-dropped one company in particular.
“They [French regulator ARJEL] have not done the job they promised us to do, in protecting licence holders, effectively. You may have seen they have started to take steps against some minor operators. But obviously there are some big operators, still operating we believe in France, and one of them is Bet365.”
Before you ask, yes that is Norbert’s dummy that you see on the floor.
“We don’t have any official numbers, but I would tend to believe [that] maybe 85-90% of business in Italy is done by regulated operators, whereas in France, on the sports betting side, we would believe that not more than 30% is run by French-facing business run by license holders. French regulator ARJEL is aware of that.”
Norbert’s words are the latest in a long line of comments leveled at France by a number of different companies and in most cases, it’s justified. It’s also not the first time that Norbert himself has piped up after famously calling out two companies in North America almost a year ago.
As for Bet365 it’s fairly unlikely that they’ll stoop down to Norbert the Narc’s level. The next time they see him in the park they’ll probably let him have the first go on the slide and play striker in their game of soccer though. Otherwise they’ll have to invest in yet another pacifier.
