Across the globe…well….across Europe, online gambling companies are experiencing a bit of a boom at the moment thanks to recently liberalized regulations in parts of the old continent. While some companies (read: pussies) have been slow to embrace these new regulations, one of Ireland’s early adopters is being championed as proof of the potential for growth in the online gambling industry.
Paddy Power is being celebrated by the Association of British Bookmakers (ABB) as one of the greatest successes of the iGaming business today, saying that the online bookmaker has brought commendable revenue and several jobs to the Irish economy and deserves to be supported by the national government.
By “being supported by the national government,” they really mean exempt from further taxation, as the Irish government is set to introduce new tax regulations as they pertain to online gambling establishments that may slow Paddy’s rise and prevent the company from further growth.
“Paddy Power is a great Irish success story, creating wealth, employment and innovation in a technology-led industry,” Tom Kenny, a senior executive at the ABB tells the 777 Gaming News.
