Sportsbook software provider OpenBet posts a new record, handling 19,300,000 total sports bets on the Grand National race across all channels.
OpenBet, which processes transactions for the likes of William Hill, Ladbrokes, Coral and Paddy Power, handled 45,000 bets-per-minute and 54 million account transactions on April 11, an increase of 24% from last year’s Aintree showpiece.
Grand National bets placed on mobile devices also saw an increase, with an average of 63% of all remote bets being made via the channel, compared to 54% in 2014.
Openbet CEO Jeremy Thompson-Hill said that the power and reliability of the OpenBet platform meant that it was able to accommodate the surge in activity and support its growing partner eco-system without any downtime.
“The Grand National is a critical event for our customers. It places huge demands on our industry and once again we have shown that OpenBet has the ability to handle the most important events seamlessly,” said Thompson-Hill.
“I am both thrilled and proud of our performance – a peak of 45,000 bets-per-minute and total of 19,300,000 bets in 24 hours demonstrates the vast scale of our business. We enabled our customers to offer the quality of service and experience that player’s demand.” Thompson-Hill added.
OpenBet also posted 25,000,000 total sports bets and 146,000,000 account transactions last month during the Cheltenham Festival 2015.
