William Hill chief Ralph Topping has added his name to a letter supporting a Conservative pledge to reverse Labour’s planned National Insurance rise next year. “We have worked hard to maintain jobs in difficult economic circumstances, including a pay freeze that has lasted nearly 30 months,” said Topping. “Such tough measures aimed to avoid the need to lay people off or close shops, which is exactly what we would be facing if the level of taxation increased.” Which is all well and good, but his views kind of lose their impact when Hills have quite literally put their name to the Monster Raving Loony William Hill Party, don’t they?
